After my discovery of my habit of procrastinating, I pondered on building a sustainable schedule that would put me back on track in achieving goals.
(Read my previous write up to under stand the type 2 procrastination)
I am a person, who is involved in multiple businesses - all in different stages. My time allocation and my priority setting ability is the only two factors that are going to make or break these businesses.
I adjusted the "Theme for a day” methodology to build the following OS for me.
Week days
- Pick a primary work theme
- Break a day into 4 slots
- Slot 1 - Reading; Clearing Tasks from Emails; Organising
- Slot 2 - Active work hours - I will have a todo list to crack which consist of 80% of primary work theme related tasks - This is where I do all the priority tasks
- Slot 3 - Work on the things that I like to do - This is where priority doesn’t matter; I give into my interests
- Slot 4 - Clean up time; Clearing Pending Tasks; Planning
Saturday
- Work on tasks that are carried over
- Planning Ahead and Visualizing Future
Sunday
- Strictly No Active Work
- Explore possibilities and opportunities
Building Accountability
In 3 days of the week, In Slot 3, I’m being held accountable for what I am focussing and what I am doing by work colleagues.
- I tell them what I am going to do on that slot and give an update about what I have achieved in that slot .
- This practise alone makes sure that I am focussing on high priority tasks - The tasks that will move the needle!
PS: To make my schedule work and create a habit, I’m sticking to a diet plan and workout plan. Today I’m in my second week of the schedule - So far, so good!
