When I was young, I used to ponder a lot about special numbers. The most interesting concepts based on numbers were zero, infinity, and negative numbers. These concepts were not mere numbers. They are concepts… philosophies. The more you think about them, the more you can “trip” on them
Zero and Negative Numbers
What is zero? zero means nothing. none. If that is the case, then what are negative numbers? lesser than none/nothing?
Infinity
What is infinity? is it a number? a pointer? a direction?
1 x ∞ = ∞
2 x ∞ = ∞ // It should have been just2 ∞
All these numbers when you merely look it as numeric. They mean something else when it would mean something else if you look at them as concepts
I was looking for a definition of infinity. I used to look at the sky and think that that defines infinity (It’s funny that I tried to define that is not finite). Infinity is more than a number, it’s a direction.
When I look at a number line, where is infinity there? I used to think, there are two infinities
- positive infinity, which lies on the right-hand side of the number line when you extrapolate the line
- negative infinity, which lies on the left-hand side of the number line when you extrapolate the line
One day, an idea came to mind and that completely changed the way I look at infinity.
What is there between number 1 and 2? Can you break them into sub parts? Yes you can. How many? Infinity
Infinity does not only lie in the two end of the number line.
However the smaller the number line is, the infinity exists in that everywhere. It lies everywhere where ever you point.

between 1.1 and 1.2
between 1.00000000000000001 and 1.00000000000000002
In fact, every bit of the number line is a pointer to infinity. They are infinity.
We all, at one point in life, wanted infinity in our life. We want more happiness, more health, more wealth, more of everything, something in the future…something else that is not now not you… to satisfy you… to complete you.
When you realize the infinity of the numberline, you will understand that actually don’t need the something more you wanted, that something else you wanted. If you realize that right now.. you are.. the same exact snapshot in the stream of life is the very definition of infinity. You can be happy and be in blissful state every moment you realize that you are infinity.
